How does the screw ball back work?

The post is threaded and the small ball turns onto it, so the back is fastened by screwing rather than pushing. The front is a four-petal flower of cubic zirconia, and the metal underneath is 925 sterling silver with 18K gold plating on the Gold labels or rhodium plating on the Silver labels.
